Black and white Layer Cake Quilt

Image
I used this cute baby quilt tutorial (unfortunately not available for free anymore) before for   for this dreamy quilt . Now the second time around, the background fabrics were all black and white. Initially I planned the strips to be all in orange, but then I found some yellow and turquoise to make things a bit more fun and child friendly. The backing was constructed using the orange and yellow solid fabric and some donated fabric from project Linus with VW campervans on it, all matching colours! I kind of like the result, but my first go (the dreamy one) turned out much nicer. Final measurements 100cm by 120 cm (40“x50“).

Dreamy Layer Cake Quilt

From one of my favourite quilt designers, Emily of Quiltylove, comes this cute baby quilt tutorial (unfortunately not free anymore, so I removed the link). I collected a few scrap fat quarters and fabrics at the November Project Linus meeting and this pattern was perfect to use those up. This first version is made out of muted green and brown colours, with some red and navy contrast fabrics. All is tied together with white stripes and binding. I love how this quilt turned out, it has a dreamy feel to it. The backing is a funny Olaf the snowman fabric, which got a white snowy border to bring it to size. Final measurements 100cm by 120 cm (40“x50“).
