Space squares

Image
For Project Linus, I occasionally just sandwich some finished quilt tops and backings together. One of those quilt tops caught my interest. I recreated this pattern, which is made up of nine large squares, with rectangular borders and smaller squares between them.  I made this dinosaur-themed quilt before, this one is now space-themed. Dark planet and moon fabrics, and some blue galaxy fabric (also as backing) were bordered by light yellow, dark yellow and grey moon surface style fabrics. This one was a joy to sew up. The finished size was 100cm by 110cm (39" by 43"). Donated to Project Linus in July 2022.

Blue-green Layer cake quilt

This is my third layer cake quilt, these are Number One and Number Two . The squares come together quickly and I just love arranging those squares! I initially just selected blue, teal and green fabrics, but that ended up looking a bit dull. I added some interest with a contrasting yellow. I still like my first version best. But I am sure there are many more to come whenever the stash calls for clean-out.  The backing was a green and white striped donated fabric. Final measurements 100cm by 120 cm (40“x50“). Donated to Project Linus in July 2022.
