Rainbow wave quilt #2

Image
Inspired by this quilt , I set out to make another one. This time not to use up pre-cut strips, but going through my stash and find far quarters or larger pieces of fabric to create a lighter version of the chevron quilt. My son helped me coordinating the colours. Same pattern used, I just added one or two more squares on each side to make the quilt a little wider.  The backing was  dark grey fabric and I quilted with white thread across the white background. Size 97 cm x 113 cm (38” x 45”), donated to Project Linus in November 2022.

Rainbow wave quilt #1

Pre cut strips! An endless supply of pre-cut strips from this quilt . I am not sure which pattern exactly I used and how the idea of a chevron quilt came to me, but this was sure a fun project. I grouped the strips in rainbow colours and with this (or a similar) pattern , I created the chevron look. The great thing about it is that it has no triangles, it’s as simple as stitching a strip of colour to a strip of main colour and then arrange those squares in zig zag to form the chevrons.  The finished size was 83cm x 116 cm (33” x 45”) and I gifted this quilt to a work colleague and his wife who had a premmie in Sept 22. Bub is turning one soon  (I type this post a year after I made the quilt) and I hope they got good use out of this colourful blanket.

Appliqué heart quilt

Image
I took on this quilt at a Project Linus meeting. More strips than required were already cut up and a few hearts cut out. I did the appliqué first, just the pink hearts on the white background. Next, I randomly chose the fabric strips I liked most and arranged them in the log-cabin style pattern. I ended up with 4 by six squares, and added a white border.  The background was a nice batik fabrics,, which I also used for the binding. Final size 102 cm by 122 cm (40” by 48”). The quilt was dontated to Project Linus in November 2022.

Blue and pink stash buster quilt

This quilt here  came with many pre-cut strips. Too many in fact for the size I ended up doing. From the stash of strips, I chose some blue and pinks and made this stash buster quilt, which always find very satisfying. The background was a cute green paw print. Not much more to report on, I believe this was a smaller size, maybe 30” by 40” (77cm x 104 cm). Dontated to Project Linus November 2022.
