Year of the Snake quilt 3

Image
After my first trial snake, I still had some grey background and pink solids in my stash, so I made up another snake, because they are just too cute.   I scraped the last of my offcuts together for the wadding, and the backing was also a mishmash of a few fabrics that I could not find a project for. Stash busting satisfaction rating 10/10!  Final size 105 x 105 cm, 42“ by 42“. Will be donated to project Linus in August 2025.

A good colleague of mine is expecting a baby. That calls for a quilt of course. My colleague is of Chinese heritage and given it’s the year of the snake when the baby will be born, I browsed some patterns until I found this cute one on Etsy.  The pattern has a heap of color options shown, and I wanted to go for the red and yellow snake on a teal background. The red and yellow is a nod to their heritage.  First I wanted to get a backing fabric with some Australian wildlife, to reflect their second home. However, my colleague also loves puppies and I had this cute bulldog fabric in my stash, which contrasted nicely with the front of the quilt.  Final size 105 x 105 cm, 42“ by 42“. The baby will be arriving in June and in china - I will gift the quilt once mum and bub are back in Australia.
