Year of the Snake quilt 2

A good colleague of mine is expecting a baby. That calls for a quilt of course. My colleague is of Chinese heritage and given it’s the year of the snake when the baby will be born, I browsed some patterns until I found this cute one on Etsy.

The pattern has a heap of color options shown, and I wanted to go for the red and yellow snake on a teal background. The red and yellow is a nod to their heritage.

First I wanted to get a backing fabric with some Australian wildlife, to reflect their second home. However, my colleague also loves puppies and I had this cute bulldog fabric in my stash, which contrasted nicely with the front of the quilt.

Final size 105 x 105 cm, 42“ by 42“. The baby will be arriving in June and in china - I will gift the quilt once mum and bub are back in Australia.
