I scream for ice cream
After seeing a tote bag that I sewed for my sister, a good friend of
mine put one on her wishlist for her birthday. How could I not make her
one?
As a pattern I chose the icy poles paper piecing pattern from Pink Penguin. I initially sewed up eight panels, but ended up only using six for the bag. The paper piecing went well most of the time, although I remember calling the seam ripper my best friend during the process.

The
fabric selection of my initial online shopping spree was bad - the
colours weren't matching. A trip to the store resolved this issue and a
wonderful blue tote bag with icy pole lining (and a zipper pocket
inside!) emerged.
Lessons learnt:
- Online fabric shopping can work out, but mostly doesn't. Going to the shop is nicer anyway
- if color work is involved, take more time for planning
