Year of the Snake quilt 1

After completing my test quilt for my son, I heard that a good colleague of mine is expecting a baby. That calls for a quilt of course. My colleague is Chinese heritage and given it’s the year of the snake when the baby will be born, I browsed some patterns until I found this cute one on Etsy.

Before making up the real thing, I wanted to make up the pattern once. I still had some grey backing fabric and pink solid, paired with a scaly looking purple. This quilt is so much fun to sew up - this particular one was done on my new sewing machine and during a tropical cyclone. Alfred was one rare cyclone that made it to Brisbane. It stalled and luckily did not hit us hard, but we got off work and school in anticipation, which meant a lot of free time sewing.

Final size 105 x 105 cm, 42“ by 42“. It will be donated to project Linus in August 2025.
