Rainbow wrap up

This is a wrap! Four rainbow quilts, now I give the pattern a break. I can’t decide on a favourite, as they all have their pluses and minuses. Let’s talk only positives here:

#1 bottom right - COVID quilt, I had to made do with what I had. Simple but beautiful colour palette

#2 top right - love the turquoise cloud on the white background. Full rainbow

#3 top left - the dark navy background makes the colours of the rainbow (and white of the cloud) pop

#4 bottom left - the grey and pink combination is nice. And the rainbow binding is the best

Little red riding hood granny square quilt

This quilt was made up based on this free tutorial . I used 12 strips of a fairy tale themed jelly roll with white background fabric to create the granny square quilt. I love how the blocks come together, it’s a great project if you only have some time here and there.  To get the size requirements right, I only made 12 blocks. Each block is 9“ before sewing and 8.5“ after sewing. I used 3“ strips (finished width 2 1/2“) in between squares. I used a donated fabric From Project Linus for the backing and a cherry red binding. I quilted around the blocks as well as a smaller square inside the block. Final size is  90cm by 118 cm (36“ by 46“).

Garden under the sea

  For this quilt I followed the snowball fight quilt , which I used before . The fabrics were some assorted animal prints, some under water themed, and some more garden inspired (flowers and bees). They were tied together with the solid colour, a dark petrol. The background was a mix of solid navy and some puppies. The quilting lines followed the inside of the octagons. Finished size 88x123 cm (35“x48“). Donated to project Linus QLD chapter in November 2021.

Yellow wave quilt

 Stash busting time! Rummaging through my scrap stash and work out a quilt that can turn waste into Beauty is one of my favourite things to do. The tried and tested wave quilt is an ideal pattern, easily adaptable to the fabric that is available. This one is yellow background and blues/greens for the waves. For the backing, I used some red and some brown fabric that sat in the stash for ages It is a small one, 87x104 cm (34” by 41”). I will drop it at the next Linus Meeting make it to, hopefully in August.
